Weekly Photo Challenge: WARMTH

Warmth! A wonderful quality, whether it radiates from someone’s smile, from a fireplace, or from a hot cup of cocoa. There’s the warmth and  smell of freshly fried zeppoles, maybe. And the markers that tell us it’s warm outside — like cold soup and salad on a hot summer’s day. From a cold New England winter, here’s a salute to WARMTH!

A great selection of photos to represent warmth! The chocolate drink looks yummy.

It was yummy, it was at the great chocolate place in the Berkshires where we used to live, Chocolate Springs.
But serendipity again! This very morning we went for the first time to our local farmers’ winter market and bought a hot chocolate fudge “mix” from one of the vendors. It’s sensational!

I need to try more stuff like that when we go out, instead of ordering just plain coffee … For a while, Starbucks had something called Espresso Truffle Mocha. Big yum! But they change their stuff all the time..

What made the new hot chocolate stuff taste even better when I made it at home is — I served it in demi tasse cups. Looks cute, and when something is really rich, you don’t need a whole lot of it. And if you want more, you can have it — not so many calories, because each serving is small.

Very warm indeed and you know, it looks tasty too!

What a tasty selection of photos. Those doughnuts look delicious. I love them when they are slightly crunchy on the outside and soft-melty on the inside. That hot chocolate certainly looks sinful – and it seems all the chocolate flakes are mischievously sinking to the bottom of the cup and hiding away from view 😀 Hope it was a great drink. Happy holidays and wishing you a happy new year!

The round fried balls that look as delicious as they are are called zeppole, the Italian equivalent of doughnuts, but no hole in the middle. Just as you describe, slightly crunchy on the outside and soft-melty on the inside, showered with powdered sugar. I LOVE them, but almost never can find them anywhere. These were at a restaurant in Maine, too far to go for a fried “fix”, I’m afraid.
Enjoy your holidays, and all the best for 2015!

  4. Zeppoles?!?! Haven’t seen those in forever! We used to have them when I was a kid. With raisins sometimes. So yummy! I feel all warm and fuzzy now. 😉

Zeppole + cocoa + fire = a perfect representation of increasing warmth for oneself.
