In my sophomore year in high school I vaguely remember taking Biology. I don’t have much of a head for science, so what happened in the Biology classroom, stayed in the Biology classroom. All except one little homily preached by our teacher whenever someone was causing a disturbance, or going off the subject.
“Now, now,” he’d say. “X, you’re zigging when the rest of us are zagging!”
His name was Mr. Noyes, and that’s why I remember it, and him. The times when someone, maybe even me, was zigging when everyone else was zagging. Gives this challenge real meaning and daring for me. Here we are, all of us, demonstrating “going against”, doing things a different way, maybe our own way. Zigging when everybody else is zagging. Yes!
