Weekly Photo Challenge: HORIZON

This photograph, for me,  represents two dimensions of the weekly photo challenge, Horizon.

Old Fashioned Flowers

First, to me it seems more painterly than photographic, something I have long hoped to achieve but not yet accomplished. Here I feel like I’m at least approaching that new horizon. Second, the lovely flower bouquet arrived as a gift brought from her garden by a new friend when she and her husband came to afternoon tea. And what could be more emblematic of a new horizon than a new friendship?

Old-fashioned flowers, new friendships — what could be better?

What a wonderful take on the theme. Lovely idea & beautiful flowers!

Right on both counts. I might have mistaken that for a still life had you not mentioned it, and indeed! what better horizon to approach than that of new friendship. A win-win for you 🙂

      Thank you!
The gold of old friendship, however, is too precious to lose —
Which means somehow, somewhere, we have to get together.

My current schedule is Mon-Wed at daughter’s. I leave early Thursday morning. Perhaps one of those Thursdays I could head your way before heading home?

      • Touch2Touch says:

Thursday mornings are the best time of the whole week for me! We may have a plan —-
This Thursday a.m., for instance, I’m home until 11:30. Will that work? If so, come for breakfast!

To me the image looks like a hybrid of a photo and a painting – the eyes can’t quite be sure which one it is. Very cool effect. 🙂 Enjoy your newly-blooming friendship!

I tried this morning to duplicate the effect with some other flowers — to no avail. I think the effect is pretty cool too, especially because it was a complete surprise!
I’ll take heart from all your good examples of persistence, Stef!

  4. Very interesting take, And super appropriate. 😉

  5. You have given us a lovely picture of blossoms and a lovely view of a blossoming friendship. It is wonderful how flowers and friendships can brighten a day and add beauty to life.
