Weekly Photo Challenge: POINT OF VIEW

Roses being as voluptuous as they are, they’re usually shown full blown, full face. Is there such a thing as an austere rose? I think so. I think this one is showing off its pure profile. And the elegant purple color doesn’t hurt a bit either:

Looks like it is the shy and retiring type. Good closeup.

A lovely close-up. And a fantastic color to boot.

I’ve never seen a purple rose before.
They’re actually not my favorite flowers, but for this one I might make an exception.

We have a flower shop near where I work, so I have had the opportunity to see a variety of flower types and colors that I likely wouldn’t otherwise. I’m also partial to other flowers beyond the rose – but I do love the way they smell.

There was a time when attar of roses, or other rose fragrances, were the most popular perfumes. I think they’ve been overtaken by other scents, and most roses have been bred for size and not fragrance. But every once in a while I’ll come upon a blooming rose that still is fragrant, and it is heavenly.

  5. Profile and Purple. Perfect. That is truly a marvelous photo! And an incredible color.
