Weekly Photo Challenge: FORESHADOW (2)

Now what in the world do you think is going to happen here?

The stage at South Mountain

You’re right! A concert! That was easy. Here are two more photos: what do you think they foreshadow?

Oysters! IMG_2583

Oysters and good bread –You got it! A first-rate meal at Fore Street restaurant in Portland, Maine.

You just won the trifecta, it’s too bad there are no prizes attached — (wink wink)

…or, the musicians just left the stage, the piano is waiting to be closed, the scores will soon be picked up and sent back. And the someone did not finish their dinner… Aaah, I am just kidding, but often photographs are not as unambiguous as we think. Great contribution, Judith!

You always come up with something thought-provoking, Tobias!
Hmmmm. On the second two, an untouched bread basket? Oysters all still untouched? Only a novelist would come up with a scenario for these as being unfinished and abandoned. Have you thought of fiction as another string to your already formidable bow?
But on the first photo — you’re absolutely right! I know we’re waiting because I was there — but that simply means it is MY reality, not the photo’s reality — which is ambiguous. Absolutely food for thought!
(Which rounds this out nicely, don’t you think?)
      😉

On the second two, I overdid it a bit – I admit it. I’d rather not leave food untouched, and I wish I could say the same regarding food for thought… And as for fiction, I am really great at first chapters…

Once a philosopher, always a philosopher!
A good first chapter is a really good start. Now if you came up with a good last chapter — hey, it’s just getting from here to there! Maybe for retirement????
        😉

  2. I would give good money for a piece of that bread right now!
    Fun post, Judith!

I like Tobias’ first answer; but don’t think his second one quite flies (for the reasons he stated). Perhaps you could have a “contest” on your site asking people to craft quick stories about some of the pictures you post? (With the intent being that the story doesn’t describe the “obvious” elements of the picture.)

    • Touch2Touch says:

That’s a very appealing idea, Stef.
How about it? Would you be willing to try? Would enough regular viewers be willing? It could be fascinating!
Next time I do a photo I think might be productive, I’ll try and remember this.
(At my age, that’s not a promise to lean on, exactly. So if I forget, remind me.) 🙂

  4. (A) an elephant walks into the room? (B) the walrus and the carpenter arrive for dinner? (C) thou brings me a jug of wine?

    • Touch2Touch says:

      Goody! An interactive fiction —-
I definitely choose bringing the jug of wine and off we go.
(The Walrus and the Carpenter would inhale this dish in the flicker of an eyelash.)
((An elephant walks into the room?????????))

      Thank you, Jen! 😉
