Best Foot Forward

There has to be a whole lot of tedium going on to aim the camera down and put the focus on FEET. But on the fifth?  tenth? fortieth? day of rain and showers and thunderstorms and drizzle and then some more rain — something snaps. I realize I can’t depend on sunshine and blue skies to cheer me up, I’ve got to learn to put my own best foot forward.

So that’s what I did, and here’s the result:

I don’t know if it’s my BEST foot, but it’s my foot, and I’m about to put it forward and go stepping out again, just as if summer has genuinely arrived and the sun will someday shine again.

How about you? What do you do to get going again after a stall?

  1. okay, when you’ve had too many rainy grey days in a row, and it’s almost the middle June and only 17 degrees Celsius in the house, the only thing to do is to dance around singing silly songs. Songs you make up like “where is my puppy, there is my puppy, where is my puppy now?” What can I say? simple things amuse simple minds. hee hee.

I play a stupid ball game on Facebook, when I’m not trying to take photos of reflections in water drops on flowers.

When I used to live in Ithaca, New York, we had more grey days than I could bear, and we used to joke that the sun only came out at night, because at night the clouds would clear, so that the temperature could drop farther! I saw a healer then who told me I was suffering from a deficiency of the color gold (well, who ever would have thought about that?), and that candle gazing would help. And it did! Ever since then, candles and incense and music, that’s my cure for the grey days that won’t end, an injection of warm color, energy, scent. And a rain barrel to play in!

  5. We are in a desert climate. The thought of so much rain nearly makes me giddy! I love the rainy season, though short it offers a nice reprieve from the dry, hot days. Oh and by the way, what a wonderful foot you have shown us! 🙂

I’m locked (for all intents and purposes) inside a school building all day, rain or shine, but yesterday when the second graders raced outside for recess and the sun broke free of the clouds at the same time, up went a mighty cheer. That’s going to be my mood breaker from now on. Yahoo!

Love the sock/shoe combo – you’re too cool!

Weather, my foot! I just love the color and textures in your shoe and sock with the strap
like a river across the picture. Did you have an umbrella? What color is it?
I’m tempted to moan about our dire weather, but I’ll let you off this time. Thanks for the cheerful picture.

No moaning about dire Irish weather allowed. We have BECOME Ireland.
We may even turn as green if this keeps up!
(My main umbrella is red, with a thin green plaid edge. Mix and match.)
Nice to see you here in ANY weather, Berna!

  8. Ooh, I like the shoe – great color! Over here, when we get into the rainy season, I just put on my flip flops and slosh my way out 🙂
