Nothing I have ever seen in my life is so GREEN as rice fields in Japan in the summertime. They are the essence of greenness, so much so that first they shocked my eyes, and then nourished them as green things are supposed to do.
This rice field is in Mie Prefecture, central Japan. (If you click on the photo and enlarge it, you’ll begin to get a little more of the real effect —)

Like you, Tara, I had really no idea what a rice field would look like — anything I’d ever seen photographed seems to have been in black and white! So the green really blew me away.
