April is the cruelest month, breeding
Lilacs out of the dead land, mixing
Memory and desire, stirring
Dull roots with spring rain.
The opening of The Waste Land, by T.S. Eliot
And what do we have here? Lilacs breeding? Or “dead land” of ancient bark?
Two subjects? Or one indivisible?
Definitely two subjects!
I go back and forth on this one, Barb.
Thanks for visiting and weighing in firmly!
Super post! I love the colours of the buds – so vibrant. Only Mother Nature seems to have those colours in her palette!
Thanks, Julia. There’s something about the spring green — tender green, they call it sometimes. And it is.
beautiful interpretation of challenge.
This spring, with all things budding, and the flowering trees absolutely magnificent —
I am aware that we are truly walking in beauty!
And you are the messenger of the alert — Thank you, Joss.
I love spreading the way, the way of walking in beauty.
🙂
I would ‘like’ this twice! Great shot.
A great comment to start off my Saturday!
Thanks much, Gemma. And a good weekend to you —
Such a refreshing shade of green – a sure sign that spring is here 🙂
If I were naming the crayola crayons, I would call it tender green —
Can’t make up my mind about one or two, but regardless, it’s lovely shot!
Thanks, Rebekah —
i would say one indivisible

Thanks for stopping by and “voting”, Amar! I blow hot and cold, yes and no, on this one.
either way I like this shot a lot…

Thanks, Jo! Since I oscillate both ways, I’ll go with that!
And I like your two subjects a lot!
Great choice!! I love T.S. Eliot!! And your shot is a good example of what we talked about 🙂
I think so — I think both of yours, and mine — and probably almost everybody’s — ends up showing the connectedness rather than the separation.
Interesting — first challenge I can remember that kind of goes against the grain —
TRue… i checked some myself and felt the same way…
Just lovely!
Thanks so much — and for visiting.
Excellent interpretation of this week’s challenge.
Thank you, Arindam!
Why is this reminding me of your post about learning something new, letting something go? Is it just the theme of the week or are you playing with thoughts of duality otherwise?
I think more and more I find the theme of two subjects disconcerting. And untenable. If things are a subject, they are not separate, they are linked. Somehow it’s about “no division” — everything is connected, and therefore one.
Ooops — does this sound like satori or something? Doubt it!
😉
New life is wonderful, no matter how it arrives.
Always moving, no matter how often one has seen it before. It’s always new again —
