Weekly Photo Challenge: UNUSUAL, 3

Positively the last food reference in this category!

But the watermelon radish really is unusual, even if it’s nowhere near as delicious as the broccolo romanesco. It has perfect watermelon colors and looks like no radish you ever saw. On the other hand, it tastes a lot like a cross between an everyday radish and a pink and white turnip. In other words — needs salt. And no, it’s not juicy!

Think I will stick with radishes, watermelon, and turnips as separate vegetables or fruits! And now I’m anxious to put the garden in!

that’s amazing! it’s like a strange miniature watermelon! wonderful!

I’m surprised at how much it does look like a watermelon! But as it is a radish, it’s probably not for me… (I’m not a radish fan – though they do make good ‘flowers’ for a veggie plate.) šŸ˜‰

Like a mini watermelon — for a plate in a doll’s house, maybe.
I AM a radish fan, and turns out it’s not for me either because it doesn’t have much taste at all. Disappointing to eat. But it certainly is adorable.
