Weekly Photo Challenge: COMFORT, 2

When I’m cold, or down, or blue, or dull —  a trip to Chocolate Springs brings  a taste of quick comfort:

Refreshing Hot Chocolate

It’s chocolate makes the world go round!

Do you have a local equivalent of a Chocolate Springs? Or is something other than chocolate your comfort substance of choice?

If you love chocolate, try the Belgian 1lb+ candybars at Trader Joe’s. They have them dark or milk, with peanuts or almonds, and the price is about $4.99. Yum yum!

  2. yum. one of the things I miss about Ontario is the Second Cup coffee shops where they make the best hot chocolate ever and top it with fresh whipped cream!

  3. pix & kardz says:

    oh. yes.
not only is this a creative suggestion, it is a brilliantly captured image.
very comforting all around – thanks for sharing.

  4. This looks wonderful. On a cool fall morning this would really hit the spot.

  5. I could fall into that mug of hot chocolate! Great capture. I have never heard of a Chocolate Springs. It sounds amazing and I am sure brings much comfort! : )

Chocolate Springs (whose hot chocolate this is) is a wonderful chocolate shop and café in Lenox, MA —
There are springs of chocolate though, bubbling fountains of yumminess. I saw one at the Chocolate Museum in Cologne, Germany (yes, there is a museum of chocolate and it is FASCINATING), and I think maybe sometimes fancy caterers will have them at dessert buffets.

  6. Before hubby had his cholesterol scare it would have been cheese but I don’t buy it now. I’ve never been known to pass up some chocolate though!

Looks sumptuous and luscious and quite comforting! Makes me want to go whip up a cup right now.

Well, if you want to get complicated —
there’s also Spanish chocolate, thickest and darkest and richest of all.
But can one go wrong with any kind of chocolate? I think not 🙂

  9. Mizz says:

Now am gunna get me some hot chocolate also *its rainy here atm*

  10. Nandini says:

Love chocolate! Wanna drink it right away. 🙂

  11. Barbara says:

Am I the only one who has lost her taste for chocolate on the way to getting old? Give me a cup of lapsang suchong — delicious, smoky, satisfying. What a joy!

    • Touch2Touch says:

Yes, you may actually BE the only one who has lost her taste for chocolate, Barbara!
Lapsang suchong is all well and good — but isn’t NEARLY as healthy as chocolate.
There, there — it leaves all the more for the rest of us 😉
      Welcome back!

You should have a glass of Young’s Double Chocolate Stout 🙂 That hot chocolate looks very comforting!

    • Touch2Touch says:

There is a sudden craze over here for Chocolate Stout cupcakes —they are indeed very good, very chocolatey, very rich. But as of a year ago or so, no one had ever heard of such a thing.
Is Young’s Double Chocolate Stout really chocolate? Or simply very very dark stout? Or, improbable as it seems, actually a blend of the two???????

      • 2e0mca says:

It’s a stout like Guinness but has dark chocolate and chocolate essence blended in during the brewing process. Gives it a rich bitter flavour with a hint of sweetness.

      • Touch2Touch says:

Wow. No wonder the cupcakes taste so good!!!!!!!
I may have to have one tomorrow just for research purposes — 😉

  13. Jen says:

    mouth watering…

    • Touch2Touch says:

If you come to the Berkshires, I’ll meet you over the mountain and we’ll sip together at Chocolate Springs!
(I haven’t found competitive hot chocolate in Northampton yet, but hope springs eternal.)

  14. No substitute for great flavor, but not much can beat the experience of sipping on tasty hot chocolate with my little girls as we giggle of the whipped cream froth smearing our upper lips with only the sound of giggles.
